Musician Spotlight! Corry Loveday
Over the past year, Corry Loveday, has become a staple of the Saratoga music scene. A Capital Region native, he started playing piano at a young age and writing songs. His parents surrounded his world with different sounds, from African drumming to smooth jazz. His talent and knowledge of music landed him at SUNY Purchase’s Music Conservatory for music composition and songwriting. He thinks of himself as more of a songwriter than a performer, drawing influences from Sting, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, and Dawes. After college he moved to Saratoga Springs, and you may recognize him from working behind the counter of Uncommon Grounds. He juggled his part-time job with trying to get gigs by meeting, calling, and emailing venue owners to get his name and music out into the local scene. In the spring, gigs started to pile in and he stopped working at Uncommon Grounds. This past Summer, Corry travelled throughout the Capital Region and to Lake George area to play music and share his songs. So next time you see a solo singer with the name “CORRY LOVEDAY” on his piano for everyone to see, stop and take a listen, he may just capture your ear.
